#OnThisDay in 1967, the International and Universal Exposition, or Expo 67, opened to the public. Initially intended to take place in Moscow, Russia, the rights to the exhibition were ultimately awarded to Montreal, Canada after the USSR withdraw their bid. Acting as the centerpiece of Canada’s Centennial celebrations, Expo 67 took place on a set of islands on the St. Lawrence River.
