Understanding Parental Alienation: Effects and Solutions

Parental alienation is when a parent tells a child negative things about the other parent and/or keeps the child away from the other parent. The child is told exaggerated or untrue information about the parent— OR, information that is too mature for them to understand or make sense of. The child is encouraged to reject the parent and to not want to spend time with them.
